3 Days Safari

(Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater & Lake Manyara National Park)

If you’re short on time but eager to get a taste of Tanzania’s rich wildlife, our 3 days safari option is ideal. This adventure kicks off at Tarangire National Park, where you’ll witness the incredible diversity of animals that call Tanzania home. Along the way, you’ll also have the opportunity to marvel at the iconic Baobab trees and encounter Maasai villages as you approach the Tarangire National Park gates.

Lake Manyara National Park is another highlight of this journey, rarely failing to captivate visitors with its forested areas and permanent water zones teeming with a stunning variety of birdlife. You might even spot the famous tree-climbing lions, among other fascinating mammals.

The Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive, unbroken, and unfilled volcanic caldera, awaits you next. This unique ecosystem is not only home to the renowned Big 5 but also hosts numerous other species native to Tanzania.

In just three days, a visit to Tarangire, Lake Manyara National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater promises an unforgettable wildlife viewing experience.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park.

Approx. time in the park: 4-5 hours

Driving hours to the park: 4-5 hours

Meals: Lunch and dinner included

You will be picked up at your hotel in Moshi/Arusha and driven to Tarangire National Park via Arusha. The drive will take approximately 4-5 hours, so sit back, relax, and get to know your Nafika Tours guide. Once you arrive, you will spend 4-5 hours exploring the park, which is famous for its large population of elephants and the stunning scattered baobab trees. Other wildlife, such as giraffes, antelopes, lions, and cheetahs, can also be spotted here, although it’s not guaranteed. Lunch will be provided during the day. A word of caution: the local vervet monkeys may appear cute, but they can be mischievous, especially when it comes to food, so hold on to your meals tightly. At approximately 4:00 pm, we will exit the park and drive to Haven Nature Safari Camp for dinner and to spend our first night.

Another early morning start as you head to the Ngorongoro Crater – one of the new 7 Natural Wonders of Africa. Not only does the Ngorongoro Crater offer breathtaking scenery, but it is also home to over 25,000 wild creatures. You may be lucky enough to spot the Big 5 here. Estimates suggest there are roughly 7,000 wildebeest, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 eland, 3,000 gazelles, 600 hyenas, 200-300 elephants, over 60 lions, 30 rhinos, and many others in this small area, so I hope your camera is charged and ready to go. The crater itself is about 610m deep and covers 260 square kilometers, providing ample opportunities to spot your favorite animals. After a 4-5 hour game drive, we will depart the crater to drive back to Haven Nature Safari Camp for a well-deserved dinner and another night under the stars.

Approx. time in park: 3 hours

The final day of the drive takes us to Lake Manyara, one of the smaller and underrated National Parks in Tanzania. It is an unspoiled paradise of ground water forest fed by underground springs and teeming with wildlife such as elephants, hippos, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and some of the largest baboon troops in Africa. The bird life is spectacular year-round, home to more than a hundred species of birds composed of all different feathers. Whilst sitting or standing in your vehicle be sure to look above you as well as on the ground if you are wanting to find those lions; as they are well known to be sleeping high in the trees at Lake Manyara. Departing at 7:00am you will enjoy a morning trying to spot your favorite animals before heading back to Moshi/Airport around 12:00pm.
