3 Days Safari

ABOUT 3 DAYS SAFARI

(Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater & Lake Manyara National Park).

A 3-day safari option is perfect for those short on time, but wanting a sample of the Tanzanian wildlife experience. Starting this adventure at Tarangine National Park, your eyes will be opened to the vast amount of animals that call Tanzania home as well as being able to see the famous Baobab trees, not forgetting the Maisai villages you will spot whilst driving to the gates of the Tarangire National Park. Lake Manyara National Park seldom disappoints with a forest zone and a permanent water zone that encompasses a vast array of birdlife as well as a whole range of different mammals such as those famous tree-climbing lions. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, unbroken and unfilled volcanic caldera, home to not only the Big 5 but also all of the other species that call Tanzania home.

A visit to Tarangire, Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater offer the best wildlife viewing experience for these three days.

Another early morning start as you head to the Ngorongoro Crater – one of the new 7 Natural Wonders of Africa. Not only does the Ngorongoro Crater have some breathtaking scenery, it is also home to over 25,000 wild creatures; in particular you may be lucky to see the Big 5 here. Estimates suggest there are roughly 7,000 wildebeest, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 eland, 3,000 gazelles, 600 hyena, 200-300 elephants, over 60 lions, 30 rhinos, and many others in a small area, so I hope you camera is charged and ready to go. The crater itself is about 610m deep and 260 square kilometres giving us enough opportunities to try and catch sights on those favorite animals. After a 4-5 hour game drive we will depart the crater to drive back to Haven Nature Safari Camp for a welcomed dinner and another night under the stars.

Approx. time in park: 3 hours

Driving hours back to Moshi: 4 hours

The final day of the drive takes us to Lake Manyara, one of the smaller and underrated National Parks in Tanzania. It is an unspoiled paradise of ground water forest fed by underground springs and teeming with wildlife such as elephants, hippos, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and some of the largest baboon troops in Africa. The bird life is spectacular year-round, home to more than a hundred species of birds composed of all different feathers. Whilst sitting or standing in your vehicle be sure to look above you as well as on the ground if you are wanting to find those lions; as they are well known to be sleeping high in the trees at Lake Manyara. Departing at 7:00am you will enjoy a morning trying to spot your favorite animals before heading back to Moshi/Airport around 12:00pm.
